Before you fix the date

A lagan means the day is auspicious in general — it doesn't mean it's the right day for a particular couple. Your purohit will check the date against both kundalis, your gotra and family tradition, and set the exact time (साइत) within the day. Treat this page as the shortlist to take to them, not as the final word.

Engagement (मगनी) dates are more flexible than marriage lagan and are usually settled between the families and the priest rather than fixed by the published list, so we don't publish a separate engagement list — most families choose a day near, or on, one of the dates above.

Dates as published by the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Vikas Samiti (npns.gov.np) for 2083 BS, cross-checked against Gorkhapatra and Ratopati. We reproduce the official list rather than calculating our own, because marriage lagan is determined by the committee, not derived.
